Blu-ray playback/ HDMI output support Linux Mint 8 Helena

Post by christastrophe »

Currently I am using Windows 7, but only as a last resort. I use the blu-ray reader quite often with HDMI output. I love Linux but am wondering if the new version supports bluray playback as well as hdmi video output. Also, if it does, what kind of resolutions can i expect to get from the O.S.? If it does not support these features, are there any linux based O.S' that do? I run a sony vaio fw455d, 4 gb ram, 2.1Ghz Intel Core Duo, MATSHITA Blu-ray Disc-CMB....if any of that helps. Thanks Alot! PS - New to Linux
