AVI Color Blown Out

Some back story . . .

I've been using Ubuntu since Hoary and Mandrake before that. I installed Linux Mint on my HP 530 since ACPI and sleep/suspend were not working on Gutsy. I really like Mint! ACPI and sleep work beautifully.

I have a NFS mount of avi videos which all look blown out and over-saturated and crappy. These played and looked fine on Gutsy. Am I missing a codec or have the wrong one?

As far as I know avi works - haven't checked though
Have you checked that the network is OK?

i have this same problem
no matter what i try

my avi files look like they are on a projection TV thats all F'd up..

am i missing codecs or something
like the codecs from automatix that are "illegal"

if i go to the properties of my avi it says..
microsoft mpeg-4 v3 (ffmpeg)

any help is welcome
this is one of the last problems im having with mint at the moment.

This COULD be because you're using the default video player Totem. Try opening it with mplayer? I experienced the same thing with a fresh mint install and that's what my fix was, just playing it with a different player. I'm a fan of mplayer, but there are others out there I'm sure you can find.
