Mint 9 Isodora x86 - Fix for Flash Player Being Out of Date

Postby doa on Sat Jul 09, 2011 8:24 pm

I just installed Mint 9 Isodora (32 bit - Gnome) a few days ago (installed updates straight away) and only made a couple of changes such as installing / removing some applications.

But, when I went to youtube, for example, I was told that Flash was out of date - yet there were no updates available in update manager.

I found that the following steps resolved the issue for me in both browsers: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1476077&page=2

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get purge lightspark
sudo apt-get purge swfdec-mozilla
sudo apt-get purge mozilla-plugin-gnash
sudo apt-get purge adobe-flashplugin
sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree
sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-installer
rm -f /home/**/.mozilla/plugins/*flash*so
rm -rf /home/**/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/system32/Macromed/Flash
sudo rm -f /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/libflashplayer.so
sudo rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/libflashplayer.so

Hope that this helps :)
