(SOLVED)Video over webcam, skype, www.imo.im

WHOAMI:
Peter - one year Mint & linux user
SYSTEM:
Mint 10, laptop Toshiba tecra m1, webcam mediatech, a cheap one
BACKGROUND:
Webcam localy works fine, mplayer, cheese, even on the websites running flash. libv4l, preload, gspca already done

ISSUE:
Webcam, when switch on, crushes skype, if used on http://www.imo.im does not allow to start chat or respond to calls. I've made it work with skype(once and no idea how), only sending video stream, not being able to receive it.

If you are not experiencing similar troubleshot, at least let me know where to look for configuration files.

I got through this and many other. It does not changed my understanding of this one. It steel closes skype and does other unpredictable actions. Maybe its just this one. Thanx anyway.

Where to look..
--any general internet search, and check Ubuntu for the similar release level, eg mint 10x, ubuntu 10x

First I faced few issues with my external web camera (see LP #502866). Starting skype with following command fixed this issue. LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /opt/skype-2.1.0.81/skype

It may, of course, take some careful reading in order to understand any suggestions, methods to tryout..

Well, I am going to get over it, for this moment. It works fine with almost every application I need. Thanx DrHu.

I guess my case is quite separate. I tried many described on www tricks and on several skype versions. In the best case I can receive or send video stream. In the worst case system freeze up everything or terminates a session.
