[Newbie] I can't get my PSX USB Controller to detect.

Postby Conch on Thu Apr 26, 2012 6:30 am

Hello Linux Mint community.

I'm having a problem with my PSX USB controller in Linux Mint 12 (Lisa Edition)
I've plugged it into the USB and the analog LED is lit up, so I can see it's partially functioning, I want to use it with my pSX emulator, but when I go to the drop down menu, nothing is available. I've got it working in other distributions before, with the same emulator.

I issued the command "lspci" & "lsusb" and I can't see the hardware listed in that either.
My lspci command:

I'm still new to GNU/Linux, so I'm not very good with drivers and other stuff.
Hope you guys can help me :)

Thank you all.

The output of lspci is of no use for usb devices, please supply output of lsusb with device connected.

As you say, no joystick is detected at a hardware level (assuming the Logitech is a mouse?) Is the joystick working elsewhere, otherwise is it an actual usb device or simply connected via an adapter?

Yes, Logitech is my mouse. It's connected straight to the usb port, no adapter. I got it from a game shop a while back, no cd came with it for drivers, it's always worked in the past :( I don't know what's wrong.

Update: I've just upgraded my kernel headers. Still no detection of the controller.

You could try different ports to see if there's any difference, run lsusb after each plug in, but otherwise there's not much you can do other than try a different joystick.
