problems with my sound

Postby mptrotta83 on Sun Apr 29, 2012 11:11 pm

I'm sorry but i could not find anyone with the same problem and i am a complete novice.
this is what i have:
my mother board is an asus m3a79-t deluxe

card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

long story short i pluged in new speakers and all of a sudden my sound is off. i looked into the alsa mixer thur terminal but it did not show my on board sound. my on board sound is realtek the drivers is suppose to be soundmax 2000B if memory serves me right.
it would seem i can not hear any high or low range only mid range. and if i try to use an equilizer and boast the tremble i get a choppy or static sound with it as if its was set as mono or digital signal trying to come in thur an analog speakers. i have run the update manager, and according to that all drivers are up-to-date. what i need is a step by step idiot proff instructions. if anyone can help please do.

Plug in your original speakers perhaps?
