I've been fidgeting around with trying to get my current setup to work properly, so I thought I'd document everything I've done thus far and ask you guys for any recommendations on where to go from here (I'm still somewhat of a Linux greenie, but I'm not afraid of experimenting and furthering my knowledge).
The hardware I'm currently running:
AMD A6-3650 APU with Radeon HD 6350D graphics
ATI Radeon HD 4350 PCIe Card
I deliberately created this setup to have three monitors: two are connected to the APU and the third to the 4350.
Current OSes: dual-booted Windows 7 Home Premium and Linux Mint 12 KDE (both 64 bit).
In windows, all three monitors are working together as one, no problem. However, in LM12, I can only use the one connected to the discreete card, regardless of my BIOS setting for which one is considered primary.
After an afternoon's worth of searching (and three re-installs, one of which was an attempt for Ubuntu 12.04 Unity), manually installing Catalyst 12.4 through the terminal has actually enabled the other two monitors: they are now actually turned on and are recieving signal. However, I can't actually use them because the Llano GPU is detected in neither Catalyst Control center nor the standard KDE monitor setup panel. Catalyst DOES, however, detect an "Unknown adapter" with an "Unknown Display" connected to it (which, I suspect, is why the other two monitors are on).
My past attempts at using the "Additional Drivers" GUI never really resulted in anything - the other two displays would always stay off. And (as I've seen in so many threads) post-release updates can never be installed due to an error. The terminal said that the post-release updates weren't applied because the current package is already the latest when I tried to go that route, too.
