USB devices stop responding after a few minutes

Postby Huene on Sat May 19, 2012 6:33 pm

I seem to have an issue that causes my USB devices to stop responding after a few minutes expecially after audio is being played, I know that my Razer Megalodon is a bandwidth hog and I suspect that is my current limitation but don't have the know-how to prove it one way or another, my Questions to you folks are:

1) How can I verify for certain it is or is not a bandwith issue.
2) If it is a bandwidth issue, is there a way to limit it so that it doesn't knock out my keyboard and mouse, or ideally anything at all.
3) And of course if I'm way off, what other thoughts do you have.

I've already Reduced the number of channels on the headset from 7.1 to 4.1 surround, unfortunately it doesn't give me an option to choose Stereo, which I would be fine with as long as the mic still works.

Perhaps I'm missing something, am not correctly understanding what you're saying. What does the amount of bandwidth have to do with what's plugged into your machine, other than the method of connecting to the Internet?

USB offers a limited amount of bandwidth to communicate with all USB devices, and my headset (Razor Megalodon) is notorious for consuming a great deal of it. The bandwidth I'm referring to is between the USB hub in the computer and the various peripherals.
