Zotac d2700 itx - compatible and performance ?

Postby rogerh113 on Sat May 19, 2012 6:41 pm

Hello,

New to Mint (have been using Mandriva for several years). I am strongly considering a mini-itx system with the ZOTAC D2700ITXS-A-E motherboard, which has an Intel Atom D2700 2.13GHz dual-core CPU and embedded graphics of NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (w/ 512MB DDR3).

If anyone has experience on the performance of this system, I would appreciate hearing about it. The specs look good, but I just saw some benchmark results that left me scratching my head. Alternate itx suggestions with fairly good graphics would be helpful, if this is a dud. May sound odd, but I am putting together a web browsing system for my 92 year old mum - I has to be small, since there is little space, and I want it to last through the tech demands of the next several years without a lot of/any attention.

Secondly, are there likely to be any compatibility or driver issues with the Zotac. I would hope to just load and run (Mint 64 KDE), so if anyone has done that successfully with this setup, or a similar Zotac motherboard, please let me know. Or if you've had problems (or would expect problems), that would also be good to hear. If there are potential issues with the hard drive, I can find out what brand/model it is.

Thanks -- Roger

Thanks for the pointer at the hardware database - very useful. No direct hits on the motherboard or sub-components, but some positive results for downlevel Intel atom - Nvidia drivers might be a small issue give one comment (again on a slightly down-level version). Hoping someone has some hands-on on this Zotac motherboard or specific components......

Thanks -- Roger
