I am getting this problem in google chrome radio player live 2.0.8. I am streaming Shoutcast stations through this extension and approx. every second I am getting a clicking sound reminiscent of a record player(!). I do not get this sound streaming through the Shoutcast website. I am using a Logitech USB headset. Also using Maya Cinnamon.

I installed jack plugin for vlc to fix my problem. At least it went away after I installed the plugin.

I've had this problem for a while (2+ years) now on a HP dv7 amd64 laptop.
Back when I was running openSuSE one of their board members gave me the answer and it has worked with all versions of openSuSE, Ubuntu, and now Mint.
Simply copy the following code into a file and place it in the directory /etc/modprobe.d as 50--sound.conf -- end of problem! :D :D
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv6 enable_msi=1
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-hda-intel
# 5Dex.54Z4e7pBsC8:SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel_msi
# l4dC.5MBuk33R4dE:ATI Technologies Inc
alias snd-card-1 snd-hda-intel
~

No drivers to load that were not loaded with the original install. In fact, I found that installing anything else simply compunds the problem and I had to do a re-install!
