Can't Access Internet from MSI motherboard

I've changed my motherboard (to an MSI 990 FXA-GD80)and some other components, and am trying to cuddle up to Maya 64. Problem is, she's slow to warm up. I've finally managed to get her to come up in compatibility mode - and only compatibility mode, as booting into Maya from the Live DVD results real quickly in freezing with a white screen. But once I get the desktop up, I have no internet connection - apparently Maya isn't attuned to the on-board LAN controller's charms (see component description below.) Can anyone give me some guidance? I will try anything suggested that isn't certain to fry the system, or run any recommended test/examination. Thanks for your time.
