Logitech MX518 Slow Games response

Postby marks on Sat Mar 15, 2008 11:29 am

Hi
Having a little trouble with the above hardware.

I have moved from Ubuntu to Mint for the reasons of ease of use, the thing is my MX518 seems slow in response compaired to Ubuntu . looking at my x-org it is configured like this

Code: Select all
   Identifier   "Configured Mouse"
   Driver      "mouse"
   Option      "CorePointer"
   Option      "Device"   "/dev/input/mice"
   Option      "Protocol"   "ImPS/2"
   Option      "ZAxisMapping"   "4 5"
   Option      "Emulate3Buttons"   "true"

Now in my ubuntu setup the mouse is configured like this

Code: Select all
Section "InputDevice"
       Identifier      "Configured Mouse"
       Driver          "evdev"
       Option          "CorePointer"
       Option          "Buttons"       "7"
       Option          "ZAxisMapping"  "4 5"
       Option          "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 6 7"
Option          "Name"  "Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse"
EndSection

Now the driver name is different evdev ! , being that Mint is based on ubuntu source can i replace the mint with the ubuntu section ? or will this break my x-org ?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Mint is based on Ubuntu, but that does not mean everything is the same :)
The gnome main version forked off from Ubuntu Edgy with Barbara and has evolved ever since, while this is not true for the KDE version
Make a copy of your xorg.conf
Code: Select all
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak

Then check it out - you will get back into Mint and if all goes really wrong you could use recovery mode as a last resort

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
