Sapphire Graphics card

Postby jim3rg on Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:00 pm

Hey folks I am having compatibility problems with my intergrated hd graphics, so I have decided to get a much needed graphics card, the one I am looking at is Sapphire 11191-02-20G HD 6570 2GB DDR3 Graphics Card as seen on amazon at;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11191- ... V8GCZ6U8JR

I am just wondering if anyone knows weather this card is compatible with LM 13 Mate, linux is not useable right now so this will be my final attempt. I have a limited budget right now but this card is within that budget, so if this card wont fix my problem i will be unable to continue with linux. I am hoping that the above card will be comaptible because I otherwise like LM.

Has anyone got this card? or do you know if this card is supported?

Thanks in advance folks.

I see no questions from you regarding this, perhaps you should attempt to resolve any issues you have with what you have considering your budget is tight? Proprietary driver support for AMD chipsets is provided by AMD and their linux versions can be troublesome.

I had asked a couple of times on help chat, room but Its worth a try to tell you al my problem here too just in case :D
I Built a tower PC the specs of which are in my sig.

My motherboard is Gigabyte SKT-1156 GA-H55M-UD2H with Intel HD Intergrated Graphics, Intel H55 Express Chipset. I am currently using my sony Bravia 40in lcd TV via the HDMI port on the PC and TV. Basically in windows 7 it is set up as an entertainment system.

The problem I am having is under the display window, the Sony TV is listed as an unknown monitor and I am limited to 680 ratio. This results in a desktop way to large for the tv screen and makes it difficult to say the least using linux.

I am using LM13 Mate.

any suggestions would be very welcome as I could really do without buying a new graphics card.

You could try adding the x-swat ppa to get newer drivers. Also installing one of the newer kernels 'may' help?

Gigabyte H55M UD2H Motherboard with integrated HD Graphics

Postby jim3rg on Thu Jul 26, 2012 4:05 pm

Hi folks

I am having serious problems with getting the correct resolution to work. My setup is in my signature but essentially, I have a...

Gigabyte H55M UD2H Motherboard with integrated HD Graphics, I have my 40in Sony Bravia hooked up via an HDMI cable (I don't have a monitor so I use my tv as the pc is intended to be a entertainment system).

In the monitors window, I get a 'unknown monitor' message and it is stuck on 800 x 600 this makes the desktop virtually unusable and frustratingly I have not found a solution no matter how many searches I do, google doesn't offer any help either.

Please I can someone give me some suggestions, I am a noob so please can you provide instructions how to carry out your suggestions.

Thanks for you help and should you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for merging the topics, but it doesn't really matter now as I don't think there is a solution. I have now uninstalled linux mint and I have went back to Windows 7. It might not be the greatest OS but it works out of the box for me.

So long and thanks for all the fish.
