HDMI Question

Postby jpedrosa on Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:57 am

Hi,
i will assemble an HTPC in some days and i want to run Linux Mint on it.

but i have one question, is the HDMI support in Linux pain free?

is it supported at all?
is it well supported?

sorry the basic questions but I'm new to HDMI.
So i was never aware of any kind of news regarding this kind of connection.

Best regards,
JP

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Pain free?
Well....
This is much depending on your hardware
On HDMI sound and video go through the same cable and not all video cards support that (an understatement)
And I've tried to add a little bit in the wiki
http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... s_for_HDCP
and some more info can be found here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=740978
and here (a bit outdated)

You are probably OK with hardware - but remember that there are lots of "protected" content and that's another story

thanks.

the protected content is not a problem to me.

for the moment what i want is to have a small & funtional Media Center, and kill the scart connection for good :)
