My sound for some reason stopped working so I looked around and tryed to find the problem and I did, but I don't know how to fix it. Under "Sound Preferences" under output there shound be the default device called "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" but it somehow got replaced by this device called "Dummy Output". Is there any way to replace it or uninstall and then reinstall the sound or what?

Here's a screenshot.

I fixed it by running "sudo aptitude --purge reinstall linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils linux-image-`uname -r` linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r` libasound2" in the terminal.

Toshiba netbook running Maya Mate, which is excellent, just lost sound and is showing the Dummy Output Stereo as in the screenshot above. Hoping for a solution.
