How to configure my webcam

Postby lfelipe on Thu Apr 10, 2008 5:17 pm

Hey folks!

I'm new to Mint, and right now I'm trying to configure my webcam on Mint.
Until few days ago, I was using it on Windows, and it was alright.

My webcam is a Clone, product ID 11089.
With lsusb, I get this:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0c45:612e Microdia
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

I have Googled my problem, and found some people saying I should get SPCA5xx driver.
I tried to do so, but I don't know with I'm so stupid, or it really didn't work.

Can someone help me, please???

Thanks!!

This is what I get in the package manager, do not know if this helps, but worth a try.

Also Skype and ekiga supports webcams, if you need to use it with messaging programs.

atlef,

I have tried to install this packages, but still my system doesn't recognize my webcam.

Neither Skype nor aMsn identify it, saying I don't have a webcam connected.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Nothing yet, any other ideas??

If I'm not mistaken, I understood my webcam already has support under linux, but I still haven't found a way to make it work.

If anybody knows that, please help.

Thanks!!
