lg voyager and linux

so i just got my lg voyager and am trying to hook it up to my computer so i can transfer songs to it. i just hooked it up and it charges it, but doesnt see it. it came with a cd for the drivers im assuming, but it says its for windows xp/vista only. is there a way to manually pull the drivers off the cd? how should i go about mounting this device so i can add music to it? thanks for any info guys.

Basically I think it should just appear as a USB disk of some sort ... probably FAT format ...

Hi,

If they are windows drivers then they will be of no use to you under Linux.
There is some software for Linux called BitPim that should open up all the functionality of the LG Voyager,the wiki is here :

and BitPim can be downloaded from here :

It would appear that the filesystem needs to be accessed via the BitPim application, not via normal filesystem methods.

ya so bitpim still doesnt find my phone. i did some searching in the program and found that the port that my phone is on is active, but not available for use? it shows my phones details and what not, so at least SOMETHING sees the thing. any suggestions?? thanks so far guys.

oh ya ill also add the only version of bitpim that will even show up after i install it is the one from the package manager which is version 1.0.0

i just downloaded and installed the latest version from their website and it isnt even showing up.

Ok, so you can see your phone even though above you say you can't ?

Have you read the manual for the phone ? Is it like my TomTom One GPS in that just hooking it to the USB port doesn't actually make it
available for use on the computer, I have to select a menu on the GPS telling it to make itself available to the computer via the USB port
even though it is physically connected to the USB port.
