I am trying to completly break away from windows and could use some help with my Roland Dr Stika sx-12 vinyl cutter. I have done some googling on this topic. Havent found anything that understand. I have installed Inkscape and just dont quite understand everything. I am a linux newbie but am determined to break away. When I look in my printer properties I can see my Stika 12 (usb connection) but dont have a driver for it I guess. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike

I think I'm looking at the support section for that hardware(?): ==> http://support.rolanddga.com/_layouts/r ... SV-8/12/15

I see documentation, software, drivers for Windows and a little for Mac. Nothing for Linux.

There's a lot of very proprietary hardware out there, multi-function printers, scanners, etc. which are NOT fully functional or functional at all in Linux. I'm afraid your 'Roland ...' may fit into that second category?

FWIW, I've been trying to do the same thing for years now and have been successful for the most part. Unfortunately I too own a proprietary piece of scanner hardware that still makes having a seldom used Windows machine on the premisses necessary.
