Webcam Issues solved

Post by red-e-made »

Alright folks, I've got one for you:

I recently purchased a Toshiba Mini T-Cam PX1247E-1NWC for my laptop and, as I expected, it works great with the latest version of aMSN. However, aMSN is the only application that can detect it - not even camorama was able to find it. I'm guessing this might mean I need to install the cam's driver.

Here's what I get from lsusb:

Code: Select all

Bus 005 Device 010: ID 090c:1000 Feiya Technology Corp. Memory Bar
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 0ac8:301b Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0301 WebCam
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 03f0:171d Hewlett-Packard
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Now, the thing is I have the driver - it's on the CD that came with the cam. I just don't know how to install it.

In the event that installing the driver isn't the issue, for what other reason(s) might a webcam not be detected by any application but aMSN?

I suspect you only have Windows drivers on the CD - if not post back with the details of what you've got

Ah, so this is the driver I need. Excellent.

EDIT: Ha! Got it running. Camorama works great. A million thanks.
