CONEXANT D850 56K V.90 DFc MODEM WILL NOT INSTALL ON LINUX MINT 13. ALSO TRIED ON UBUNTU 12.04 STILL NOT SHOWING. CURRENTLY BACK TO WINDOWS UNTIL I CAN FIND A SOLUTION. I USE FAX FREQUENTLY. LINUX MINT 13 IS VERY NICE AND WANT TO USE IT.

Unfortunately the modem you listed is not supported in Linux very well.
It's a winmodem which means that it has to have windows software to run it.
only way would be to get a different modem I'm afraid there is no easy way to make them work with Linux.
That is due to the fact that the makers do not release their software drivers for linux.

if you are feel you can do some work yourself to get it going it may be possible here are a couple of web pages that may help.
