Notebook won't shutdown

Post by pawell »

Hello, I have problem with my Asus K52Jc notebook.

When the notebook is plugged in, it can shutdown pretty normally, last thing what you can see is:

Caught signal 15 : power off, then it normally shutdown.

When on battery, it just write the same thing, but the fan is still working, everything is still ON. So i have to hold my power-button for a few sec to completely disable my notebook. Any idea how to solve this problem? What is the difference between shutting down when plugged / unplugged?

Thanks for any useful information.

Not sure if any of these will help you, but:

PC not shutting down, or restarting, properly with different Linux distros seems quite common problem, at least when I google for it. I've yet to find a working solution for myself.

Your problem is again a bit different, you can shutdown/power off properly when AC is plugged in, but not when you are on battery. Odd. But it never hurts to try out different suggestions that may have helped some others in a bit similar situations.
