Need help configuring Logitech G13

I own one of these and am trying to understand how to get it to work. Apparently it can be done (see http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware/view/12942).

EdgeHawk mentions Gnome 15 (which can be found here: http://www.gnome15.org/)

I wasn't sure whether or not to try to follow the Ubuntu 12.04 instructions or the ones for Mint 12? In any case I'm struggling and I wondered if someone wouldn't mind translating the instructions into simple terms for a Linux beginner?
