Mint13/Thinkpad T42 - jumpy touchpad

Postby turboscrew on Mon Nov 05, 2012 3:39 am

I installed Mint13 / MATE onto my Thinkpad T42 that has trackpoint and synaptics touchpad.
All else is fine, but the touchpad is jumpy - with smooth finger movement the pointer jumps around within about 1 cm
every now and then, and sometimes it seems to think that "button is pressed" when it's not.

dmesg shows:

[ 17.556611] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Touchpad model: 1, fw: 5.9, id: 0x2c6ab1, caps: 0x884793/0x0/0x0

[ 23.523205] input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/input/input7

Any ideas?
