[SOLVED] Sound on front panel but not from m/b line output

Postby forger on Thu Dec 06, 2012 5:33 pm

I have a clean install of Mint 13 MATE 64 bit. I can get sound on the front output but not from the rear output on the motherboard. It worked when I benchtested the kit with a Live CD prior to install. I have run through https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting with no success. Has anyone got any ideas?
The output from lspci is

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I had to do this fix three or so years ago on the previous install and I think it involved editing an alsa config file. I think I might have got the answer from Ubuntu forums or documentation but it all seems to have changed now.

Where might I find the config file I need to edit?

Glad no one wasted their time giving an answer. I had plugged the wrong header into the motherboard. Lesson learned, double, treble check the hardware build first!
