[SOLVED] Not offered restricted wireless drivers in Mint 14

Postby Rybuger1 on Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:07 pm

Hi, everyone.

Today I installed Mint 14 MATE 32 bit on my Lenovo G530 laptop. The distros I've used previously offered to install the proprietary wireless and graphics drivers. Mint 14, however, hasn't done this yet, and my wireless card doesn't seem to work without the restricted drivers.

Is there any way to get my wireless card going?

Thanks,
Ryan

I think it's a Broadcom BCM4312.

Thanks,

Just checking, but you know that the additional drivers are now installed from the Software Sources program? There is a tab for additional drivers in that program.

I'm having exactly the same problem right now. Could you give me a step-by-step description of how you solved it?

Thanks!

I wanted to thank you for this little bit of information. I've been trying to black list certain modem drivers which seems to be the solution on the ubuntu forums. Much easier to remember to go to main menu > Search Software Sources > Additional software tab > and select the wifi driver and hit apply. I'll be book marking this page just in case 6 months from now I've forgotten.

Thanks again.
