[RESOLVED]weird display problem

-mint 14
-mobo: asus p5n73-am (onboard video)

The problem happens randomly. the display will go off and on as if its installing drivers or something, then when it comes back on the system freezes and displays weird colors. I *think* its an issue with the drivers/mint, but I also dont trust the motherboard & onboard video (its been...abused lol). the board itself uses nvidia chipset, how can i make sure that i have the most updated drivers/software for this board?

If you want the latest stable drivers, I would go with just the terminal command sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
