Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate Keyboard

So I get this nice new keyboard for Christmas, my wife bought it for me and I bought her one.

Anyway, I plug it in while in win 7 during some work I was doing (still in the middle of fully moving over to mint 14), works off the bat. I restart the computer, the keyboard is working in bios, grub, and when I get to mint 14 no working keyboard. Not even the lights work, even when the computer is off I can play with the light settings on the keyboard. In windows no drivers needed, its using generic ms drivers to run it. How is it that grub and bios can run this keyboard but mint can't?
