Linux Mint 13 (Maya) freezes completely

My newly self-built computer with a MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard freezes almost once or twice every day. A search using Google shows some (w same hw) with freeze problems, but in my case it's not even possible to access the computer from another computer via ssh, to be able to shut it down and restart it. I simply have to force a restart by holding the powerbutton for about 10 second, before it shuts down, and wait some seconds before pressing the power again to make it start. I've checked the logfiles at /var/log, to see if there's anything strange there. No luck as far as I could see. Almost every time i freezes, it happends when I use the mouse in some way. Once it have frozen when screensaver was active (black screen). If it should be the graphics driver or similar, I still would be able to access the computer via ssh I think. The keyboard and mouse uses different USB ports far from each other.
I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do to be able to solve the problem.
Thanks,
L
