Recommend a Linux motherboard

I am looking for a good quality motherboard which is 100% compatible with Linux, i.e. no sound or video driver problems etc. An older board which is still available new in the UK would be fine.
I would prefer an AM2 micro ATX board with built-in video but if that presents problems then a full size board plus a cheap graphics card is the alternative. I will also consider Intel boards provided that their ATI drivers are Linux-proven.
The pc I am building for a friend is primarily for surfing, emailing and word processing and not as a HTPC.
I welcome your recommendations based on your personal experience.

well, I don't know about a specific motherboard, however, when it comes to a PC, go for a low-mid end dell without broadcom wireless, getting something else instead of broadcom. Dells almost always work with linux.

let's just start off with this AMD=ATi (same company), also most mobo's are linux compatible.

That being said, I built a friend a computer using this "BIOSTAR NF61S-M2" and she has had no problem running mint on it. The install was seem less 0 problems. I don't know if you can get it in the UK or not though. Good luck with your build.

I have built 2 systems with the below board in the last 8 months I guess. The only problem I had with it was Linux couldn't talk to the sensors, so Linux couldn't control the fan speeds or read the temp. Other than that, both systems worked perfectly on Linux. I would suggest a Nvidia 8600 series graphics card. Good performance/price ratio.
