New screen brightness issues with Zenbook UX31A

Hi, I am running mint 14 with Kernel 3.7 with gnome classic.

I never was able to get my fn brightness hotkeys to work, yet the brightness adjuster in settings worked perfectly well. Now however, almost suddenly, the brightness slider no longer works. I tried xbacklight (now uninstalled), adding acpi_backlight=vendor in grub, along with the quick fixes on the ubuntu ZenbookPrime compatibility page with no luck.

My head is starting to hurt from this full brightness, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
