LaCie d2 DVD±RW 22x with LightScribe External DVD Burner

Postby bicky on Sat Jan 12, 2013 12:54 pm

I have been given this device, however I cannot get it to function on my HP Pavillion computer running Linux Mint 12.
My computer does not have USB2 capabilities, but I have an adapter USB2/USB1.
When I switch on the LaCie - blue light registers power, the CD/DVD spins, but when I plug the device into my USB port - there is no recognition.
Unfortunately the gift came with no diskette of drivers etc or any instructions - so am at a loss. It was my intention to use this to install Mint on my netbook via the USB port - netbook has no cd writer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

"System Requirements Computer: Pentium 4
Operating System: Windows 2000, XP, Vista; Linux; Mac OS X 10.3.9 (light scribe doesn't work with Lion OSX)
Memory: 256MB
Hardware: USB 2.0 port"

P.S. I also have a 5 Port PCI High Speed USB 2.0 Adapter Card - but again no drivers or instructions - so does not function in my computer - no recognition.
