C-Media CMI9880 multichanel surround [PARTLY SOLVED]

Newbie!

Tryin' to config my CMedia CMI 9880 (onboard by Asus P5AD2 Premium Boards)
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. ... or-C-Media hasn't listed my number

By default, the Monosound (Centerspeaker) works. In Control Center -> Hardware -> Sounds -> Bug* -> everything is on autodetect

I can change autodetect to: CMI9880 / CMI9880 Digital / Alsa / ESD / OSS but didn't figure out, how my problem is solvable

Thanks
RHVKL

-------------
*Bug: Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager.

I have a feeling this is due to the bug you report in 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
This bug plagues the live CD but is generally not common on installed systems
I get it now and then but it disappears at the next reboot

still noob :-/

Code: Select all

lscpi
bash: lscpi: command not found
... well mono sound (center) is working with cmi or alsa driver, but I can't configure the multichanel 7.1 sound ... and the volume control isn't working, too.

OK a few links
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683
Although this talks about ICH8 it could be useful
http://linuxtechie.wordpress.com/2007/1 ... -in-gutsy/
There may also be a solution along these lines
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... und#p65088
Of course you don't use Toshiba - just leave out "model=Toshiba"
