Does TiVo work with Linux Mint?

Guess this forum might be appropriate for this question.

I've recently begun investigating using a TiVo unit instead of the cable company provided SA-8300HD DVR. I wish to be able to copy recorded shows over my home network for either storage or disc burning purposes.

I see where software is available for PC's and MAC's. I see Vstream-client available in Synaptic but I suspect this may be for other features.

So the basic question is will TiVo function the same over a Mint based system? Any personal experiences you wish to share?
