Huion H610 pen tablet issues

Hi! I'm new to linux mint. I'm using the 64 bit version with cinnamon. When I tried to get my Huion H610 tablet working it didn't work as expected. It would produce random button presses and jump to and from the sides of the screen. The tablet itself is this http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/d ... let_TWHA60 model but with another vendor code. I tried updating the kernel to 3.7, and that made the buttons work properly, but the cursor wouldn't move at all. The tablet works fine in windows 7 so there's nothing wrong with it. I broke my linux mint install trying to get rid of 3.7 so I'll try again tomorrow, but is there any way to get this tablet to work with linux mint? Thanks.

Hi cyaoeu,

Welcome to Mint forums!

You might want to try the WizardPen driver. That may get the pen working.

If it really is equivalent to the UC-LOGIC (you're the second person I've seen claiming that despite a different VID and PID in lsusb) then the 3.7 kernel should have done the trick: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/d ... ort_status Perhaps because the X Server wasn't updated also?

Thanks, that along with this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2105398 made my tablet work properly!

I'm not completely sure, but that was the tablet that looked the most like the one I've got. I don't know how to update the x-server and if the tablet would have worked then, but it works fine now anyway.
Is there any way to get pressure working in krita?

Good, glad to hear it is working for you. :)

Yes but it is a bit tricky. It is a Qt bug, Qt doesn't handle the evdev driver correctly. See the bug report linked in: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/d ... p_in_Krita

FWIW: I contacted UC Logic and they tell me that Huion is "not using our solution"

Hi,
I can confirm that this worked for me - same tablet (Huion H610), Olivia Cinnamon.
The ubuntu forums are down, but this proved invaluable.

However, I'm having one last problem (and I'm not sure if there's a workaround), namely that I have dual monitors, and the tablet runs across both of them. I would only like it to work on my main monitor. Does anyone know if there's a way to do this?

Cheers!

How did you apply the huion directions, http://www.huiontablet.com/developer/huion_guide.txt

(2)
Aside from pressure how well does the acceleration play in GIMP/krita or other? Of interest are reports on: pressure, acceleration, tilt, precision. Apparently tilt is not exclusive to current high end wacom tablets. But the latter is most excellent.

Nikolai Kondrashov has made an out-of-tree kernel driver that supports the Huion H610 and can be found here. https://github.com/DIGImend/huion-driver
Download the zip file on the right of the page and extract it to your desktop, then follow the instructions in the README.md file to install.

Awesome, that totally worked! (Well almost totally; still no pressure sensitivity but I don't really need it.) For reference, the full instructions (again, for kernel version 3.5 or later --- I have 3.13 lowlatency):
1. Click [Download Zip] at https://github.com/DIGImend/digimend-kernel-drivers to download zip file and unzip somewhere convenient.
2. Make sure you have linux-headers package installed for your running kernel
3. In the unzipped directory run make to compile and sudo make install to install the driver.
4. Plug in the tablet and start scribbling.

If anyone finds this I just got a Monoprice, AKA Huion 610 (H610) graphics drawing tablet and NOT the pro version. I'm on Debian stable currently 3.16 kernel. Not the same; but should be the same install experience for Mint or debian based.

Now-a-days...

It(driver) just works. However; find "Input devices" inside your program, like Inkscape. Then you must check off the right driver/device and remember to press save and close the program and then reopen it.

https://github.com/DIGImend/digimend-ke ... s/releases

...Has the deb package and with gdebi (deb installer) if it's not already on your system. No need to compile; but that's not difficult either. That DKMS deb package will keep it current even when you kernel upgrades during your regular upgrades.

The point is now it shows up under Gimp and Inkscape, "input device", settings. Check it, enable it to "screen" or something there. You have to SAVE the changes and restart.

Remember you might have to restart the program or the desktop to see changes take effect.

The pressure thing works now. Where you push more and it gets thicker or what ever else you want to set, in the programs; like darker. Excellent!

It also leaves very smooth lines. Not jagged. Test it with the Calligraphy pen clicked inside Inkscape.
