RS300M 9100IGP and Linux Mint 14 KDE

Do I have any options besides the driver that comes in the initial installation for this vidoe adapter? This is an older laptop its a P4 3200 with a gig of ram. I am having a lot of issues that may be video related but I have been unsuccessful in installing any proprietary drivers. From what Ive seen on ATI's site Im stuck. I am really at wits end with these lockups and havent really seen any posts on this adapter. I am a noob and havent gotten much feedback on my posts. Kinda surprised
