I wish to use Cinnamon.
The printer is automatically configured in Cinnamon - I cannot change the 600dpi setting.
This uses too much ink.
I have modified the Canon MG 5300 ppd file to give a range of print resolutions in KDE13 and this works well in Mint 14 KDE too.

Can anyone tell me how to change the dpi resolution in Cinnamon?
NB the range of other printing options in Cinnamon is very good.

You need to modify the Canon ppd file using CUPS
Just go to CUPS.org in your browser
Go to Cups for users - Accessing the Web Interface and it will tell you where it is - usually http:localost:631 - what ever it is just click on it and go there.
Select modify Add printer and do what you want - adding a ppd file is what I did.
