No sound in Mint 14

So I'm not exactly a Linux newbie, but this one has me stumped. Basically I cannot get the onboard analog 5.1 [or 7.1, I forget] audio to work at all. I can get the secondary audio set to work [my GPU has an audio processor, and since it's connected to my tiny-speaker-equipped monitor via HDMI, it can send sound that way], but the actual speakers won't work. I've tried using generic loaders instead of specifically looking for my sound card, but that didn't change anything. I've been playing around with config files and rebooting for a couple of days now, and still haven't gotten so much as a blip. The sound preferences pages indicate that certain apps are trying to send sound to the speakers, but none of it is going through.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H. Have a MSI GTX 460 if that matters. Kernel is "Linux 3.5.0-17-generic (x86_64)", running Linux Mint 14 MATE. Audio devices show up as "HDA Intel PCH"/"Built-in Audio" and "HDA NVidia"/"GF104 High-Definition Audio" [latter is currently disabled].

I've done a number of searches online, been on some of the official IRC support channels, but to no avail so far.

Any ideas? Anybody have similar issues? Need more info?

Nevermind, this is apparently a known [and unfixed] bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/996245

I'll just watch that thread for updates.
