Has anybody got the working yet ?

None of my 'mint 14' pc motherboards has the hardware built in !

As I'm about to ditch my broadband, cos WiFi is a lot faster its critical I get it working sooner than later !

Any thoughts anyone ?

Hi Tim,

It would be helpful in order to help you if you gave us a little more information. What wireless card does the machine use.
if you don't know the model and make then enter the following command in a terminal an list the output here.

Code: Select all

lspci
also enter this command and list the results

Code: Select all

rfkill list all
Then we may be able to get you up and going.

I've uploaded the drivers for mintwifi aok

but sudo /usr/lib/limuxmint/mint Wifi/mintWifi.py

does not find the two wifi networks that are in easy reach .

So I assume the drivers do not include the usb receiver thing I've got (which does run on android and Windows 7).

So what make of usb dongle does work with mintWifi drivers ? then I can buy one !

Many thanks for your support !

I to have no luck with wifi on an acer laptop with mint 14.

also I am embarassed to say I didnt have much luck with the terminal.
jaime@Extensa ~ $ 1spci
No command '1spci' found, did you mean:
Command 'lspci' from package 'pciutils' (main)
1spci: command not found
jaime@Extensa ~ $ select all
> 1spci
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `1spci'
jaime@Extensa ~ $ rfkill list all
0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
jaime@Extensa ~ $
I dont even know what wifi card is in here. but guess it is probaly a broadcom seeing as it wont play with linux?

Also one question- does mint debian have more suport for wifi cards?

regards

OK Tim, I spend the last three days playing with getting my WiFi to work. You have mint WiFi installed, try going to software and then to device manager (not sure I have the right name) and look to see what is available.

Great! thanks heeps for the superfast reply

somehow i searched the b34 firmware and found this thread-

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=105900

I had to get it un-blacklisted as well.

Mine was a broadcom 4311. all working now.

Thanks Flyboy heaps!!! Broadcom thanks for nothing! NADA!!

Now I can go ahead and install linux on my netbook, it has a 4313. Which according to that thread should be fixed the same way

Ok here goes......started on the second laptop a HP mini 210 it has a broadcom 4313 but i cant get this sucker working

tryed the former post steps, which is slightly different to the 4311 but either I didnt understand what I was doing or I couldnt work out what I was doing, or probaly both. but either way I couldnt get it working :(

now that I have used mint since no.11 I dont want to use windows on a non gaming computer. I would rather sell it and have the money. So any help appreciated.
