Ok, here is the deal, I'm on a fresh install of Mint 14 Cinnamon. I want to test steam and as such I would like to install the latest AMD drivers, in this case the 13.2 Beta 3 drivers.
I've been googling for quite some time and all I see is a ton of terminal commands that completely differ with every guide/tutorial which, to me, makes no sense since they are doing the same thing (supposedly). For someone coming out of Windows in which it is pretty straightforward it just boggles my mind.
So, fresh install of Mint 14 like I said before. Didn't mess up with any type of configuration so everything is default. Downloaded the drivers from AMD website. Now what? Should I just install the drivers straight away or remove something before doing that (default drivers maybe)? Also, what about the "required" packages for the drivers to work (according to the driver release notes), where do I get them or check if I have them?
Thanks.
EDIT: Wrong section, I thought I was posting this in Graphic Cards & Monitors section. Some mod please move it to the right place.
How to "actually" install the latest amd drivers?

Basically extract driver.zip; will generate a driver.run file.
Open a terminal where you extracted (i. e. Downloads), and run:
The installation will be automatic.
Open a terminal where you extracted (i. e. Downloads), and run:
Code: Select all
sudo sh driver.run
