NVIDIA Additional Drivers killed Displaydriver

Iam kinda pissed after trying all 4 Additional Drivers and now the Display Driver is completely dead

i actually have a Geforce g210m in my laptop (installed LM 14 KDE)

do you have any idea how i get my old standart driver back OR what would be way better a driver what works

i bought that laptop with a GeForce while thinking yeah this works best with Linux and now iam totally dissapointed

Which drivers specifically have you tried.

I have just installed the nvidia proprietary drivers which work fine.

If you go to your /etc/X11/org.conf you can see which driver your using, or use lspci to check

1) when i start the KDE Software "NVIDIA X Server Settings" it replies to me that i dont using any NVIDIA X driver
2) at 1st i tried the NVIDIA binary XOrg driver... and then the experimental one (there are 4 additional drivers 2 are "normal" 2 are "experimental" one experimental cant be installed)
3) trying "nvidia-xconfig" as root dont bring up anything usefull

Ok this is where i'm starting to stab in the dark a little so hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will step in soon ...

But I wonder why the kernel is using an experimental module, the output for lspci -k for me is this:

If you go to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and look in the device section it should say nvidia under driver I believe.

Which version driver are you trying to use as a matter of interest?

If the nvidia driver module is being loaded, it is in use/active despite any message from Gnomes' additional driver operation that indicates not so..

Both lsmod, nvidia-settings utility provided by nvidia driver (from the vendor:Nvidia) allow you to see if nvidia is in charge of the graphics for the X-server or not

In your code block, you are showing I915 or an Intel Integrated (motherboard built-in) graphics module, there is a whole plethora of information about Intel drivers, it will be part of an X-server choice via the package manager, but you should also check that specific chipset Intel 915 and installation on Linux..

now i finally killed something else...

i just installed a non-experimental nvidia-driver + new kernel-header and image for nvidia and restarted the linux and now i have a weird situation:

1) i have no network interfaces available anymore - wth is goin on ? (so no wireless lan anymore)
2) the resolution is 800*600
3) the audio driver seems to be killed too

anyway we already know the root of the problem: dual gpu setup

you can't install the nvidia drivers directly having 2 gpus, it won't workm (actually this would the first information you should provide in the OP: i have a 2 gpu setup intel+nvidia; how do i install the drivers?)

options:
1- can you disable one of the cards in the bios? you'll lose that economic mode/power mode but it will be a lot simpler
2- get rid of all nvidia traces (really all) and try https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee (with that gpu setup there's no other way around)

no i cant disable nor remove it from my laptop (asus ul80vt)

cause i need the eco mode for my windows 7

so bumblebee is the option to use the nvidia card as standart driver and ignore the intel onboard one ?
btw the onboard card is NOT active till i start it with the button on the laptop, i think / hope linux uses the nvidia one as standart its not a dual gpu as you think (or is it ?)

sorry i missed this part.
do the following test:
- switch the onboard gpu off on that button
- start mint and give us the output of inxi -Gx again (as user, not root)
let's see how linux leads with that situation

but the mesa driver is installed, so while using bumblebee with "optirun" this software activates the nvidia driver for my g210m graphic card - is this correct ?

yes, bumblebee manages the usage of both drivers for both gpus according to user specification (an amazing project if you realize that is completely community driven )
