USB ADSL Modems ?

Hi All,

Just a general question, what is the support like in Linux Mint for USB ADSL Modems ?
Is it just plug and go or can it be problematic ?

I've never had a USB based ADSL Modem so I have no experience with them, however it looks like I
may be moving a client over to Linux Mint who has a USB ADSL modem and I just
wanted to check things out before I go down that route !
Advice please ?

Mike.

Taken from memory - they seem to work but there are scattered problems. But I believe nothing that someone with your knowledge can't handle I think.
I have no experience either and I don't like such contraptions because I want to have an off switch to the network right beside me

Thanks for the reply ...
I must admit the thought of having networking running across USB ports doesn't fill me with joy either!
Like you, I have always steered clear of such things, ethernet is so much more simple, reliable and controllable :)

Perhaps as part of my clients "Upgrade" to Mint I should recommend an upgrade to a router too !

Thanks !

Mike.

Addendum for the not so techy that reads this
upgrade to a router
A router is always the preferred method as it has a hardware firewall which will protect you well - provided you change the default password (and user name if possible)
