Webcam puzzle

I recently bought a new System76 Pangolin Performance laptop and discovered an interesting (for me at least) puzzle. The webcam (built-in Chicony USB 2.0) works fine with LM 12 Cinnamon 64 bit, but not with LM 14 Xfce 64 bit. Is there a system folder and file where I might find the driver and related data? Thanks
