[SOLVED] Bluetooth on Vizio ultrabook not working

Postby dregntael on Sun Mar 03, 2013 6:24 pm

Edit: Bluetooth suddenly started working without changing anything. I still have no idea what the problem was however, it seems to be the same problem as in http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=127685.

Original message:

I have a Vizio thin+light 14" (CT14-A1) running linux mint 14 cinnamon (64 bit). All hardware is working fine except bluetooth. There is a bluetooth icon on my system tray and the status is 'on', but when I search for devices I cannot find any (tried with my bluetooth mouse and my phone).

When I boot into windows 8 on the same machine, bluetooth is working fine, so I know it's not a hardware problem.

I already tried the following:
  • I installed blueman and tried searching for devices with it, but also without results.
  • I upgraded my kernel from 3.5 to 3.7, still no result.
  • I booted linux mint from a live USB stick, also nothing.
I'm at a loss here, can someone give me a hint what to try next?

For completeness, here's my output of 'inxi -Fxz':
