Least evil/best supported workstation hardware?

I'm about to upgrade my aging desktop, and I want to not find the best supported hardware out of the box by LinuxMint/MATE and I want those $$ to go to the comapny that best supports FOSS.
The workstation will be used to run a desktop on which virtualization software will be run in order to have multiple OS instances run in vritual machines, using either vbox or vmware.

I'm looking for a motherboard that will support 64GB or RAM or more and a video card that will support at least two monitors at 1600x900 or better.
