I did a sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade last time I had my computer booted and following a restart all I get after the Linux Mint loading screen is a blank screen with a single, solid cursor. A little light googling brought to my attention an Ubuntu 12.04 user who installed the Catalyst 13.2 beta driver and upgraded from Beta 6 to Beta 7, which only works in 12.10 do to an X-server issue. The result of course is identical to the issue I'm having.
Now my question is this: Isn't Linux Mint 14 (which I currently have installed) based on Ubuntu 12.10? If so, why should the X-server issue remain?
And more importantly, can I fix this without doing a clean install of Linux Mint? Granted, my current linux mint installation is not more than a couple of days old, but I'm getting really tired of doing clean installs every time I let something get mismatched.
