Asus Essense ST sound card problem

Hi experts,

I have bought an Asus Essence ST card with the H6 extension card.
There is sound but no Hi resolution sound, VLC player produces an 70 kHz sine as something like 2000 Hz, I cannot record with Audacity.
Input controls leading a life of there own.
What I have to install and what not is a mystery to me, the card /chip is supposed to be supported, but I wonder if anyone really tested in hi resolution and recording.
