Can't mount and read data dvd's

Postby olefudd on Sun Feb 25, 2007 3:00 pm

This is my first post here so I would like to say hi to everyone! I have Bianca installed, and so far I think it's a great distro. I am however having an issue reading data dvd's. cd's and movie's play fine.
I triple boot with PCLinuxOS and Win98 and I can read the dvd's fine there.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there's a work around.

Thanks,
OleFudd

what's the dvd's filesystem? iso9660 or UDF?

if they are UDF (or you don't know) try to edit your /etc/fstab

and change it like this:
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
in
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 auto user,noauto 0 0

change only the thing in bold :)

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that with no joy, I really think it's the drive now.
I'm going to replace it and see if that helps.
