Funny graphical artifact after restore from sleep

Postby littlenoodles on Fri Mar 15, 2013 1:00 pm

I have my desktop machine (i5core, intel 2500 graphics) set to go to sleep after a certain amount of time, and whenever it wakes up, I have the same specific graphical artifact.
In Firefox, using the FXChrome theme (doesn't happen with the default theme), a 1-pixel horizontal red line flickers about 2/3 of the way from the top of the tab bar extending from the start of the active tab to the end of the monitor (i.e. beyond the end of the firefox window). This persists until I reboot the system. Logging out and back in with or without restarting X does not fix it. but switching to the default theme does fix it (and switching back to FXChrome brings back the red line).

Pretty wierd, huh? Just how close to the hardware does Firefox let theme code get? I assume there's something in the GPU that isn't getting restored properly when the hardware is brought back from sleep mode - but the effect is pretty subtle...
