usb mouse has stopped working [SOLVED]

Postby hhead on Fri Mar 15, 2013 2:37 pm

I plugged my usb haed drive in to make a backup and my usb mouse stopped working (trackball fine). This has happened before and it was easy to solve but I cannot remember how. Anyone know?

Worryingly I couldn't get the machine to boot afterwards. I got a completely blank screen and no hard drive activity. After pressing the power button about 4 times and praying it booted fine.

Syslog shows the following using mint 13
Code: Select all
hub 2-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 3 disabled
Mar 15 18:33:51 nrh1-Satellite-L350 kernel: [  338.532066] hub 2-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 1 disabled
Mar 15 18:33:53 nrh1-Satellite-L350 kernel: [  340.460050] hub 2-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 2 disabled

Self sorted now working again after another cold reboot.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=127165 this reminded what I did last time. Removed the battery and then rebooted...
