Canon PIXMA MP560 installation problem

Postby thephenocryst on Wed Mar 27, 2013 1:19 pm

I'm trying to install a Canon PIXMA MP560 on Linux Mint 13 XFCE. It's a 32 bit system.

I've followed the advice given on other forum posts: downloaded Canon's drivers from the Asia site, installed them and run the script. The script finds the printer on /dev/usb/lp0. After confirming the printer name, the script reaches this stage:

Execution command = sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p MP560USB -m canonmp560.ppd -v cnijusb:/dev/usb/lp0 -E

CUPS pops up with:

CUPS server error. There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'server-error-internal-error'.

The script completes and the printer appears in CUPS. It has no location and I can't see it on an IP search with ifconfig.

I've searched for other posts with the same problem, but they all seem to be solved by the drivers and script, or are 64 bit issues. Please help!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
